Wrong side of the Nile

There are two major highways in Egypt, one cleaves close to the Nile, the other one bows out into the Lybian desert. I was riding along on the latter in a BMW tour bus headed for Minya when some damn fool made the comment “If nothing goes wrong, we'll be there in no time!”
NO! Do not ever say that!
I was sitting in the back seat right over the engine, and so felt it viscerally when the BANG! Thump... thump........... thump happened and the bus ground to a halt . The bus had thrown a rod. The local guide went into Baghdad Bob mode telling the group everything was alright and we'd be back on the road in minutes.

Uxmal Spider:
I'll say this, normally I'm all about spiders. They are shy critters that eat the annoying bugs. So long as they're not radioactive 1950's era monsters, I am happy with most spiders.
But then there was the Tarantula in Uxmal. Not quite a monster, but verging on it.
I was walking towards my hotel room, and she paced me. I stopped, she stopped. I started walking, she followed. I swear to you that I got stalked by a spider.
Creeped me the heck out, Once I reached my hotel room I slammed the door and spent the night thinking of hairy legs and fangs.
